For almost 60 years, Sonderegger has been crafting premium packaging for some of the world’s most demanding brands. But when a company’s value lies in touch, materiality and the precision of every gesture, a website cannot simply act as a showcase. It has to make people feel what they cannot physically touch.
Designing for Touch
The challenge wasn’t to present a portfolio of projects, but to translate a tactile experience into a digital medium. Every interaction, transition and composition was designed to evoke the material itself. Immersive close-ups, shifts in scale and a fluid navigation encourage visitors to slow down and appreciate every detail, while a deliberately restrained interface lets the products take centre stage.
The user experience steps back, allowing the object to speak for itself.
A Website Built Like a Prototype
Designing packaging is a process. Understanding a need. Selecting the right material. Developing a prototype. Testing. Refining. Producing. We designed the user journey around that very same logic. Rather than presenting a conventional list of services, the website naturally guides visitors through the creative process. It doesn’t simply explain what Sonderegger does. It reveals how the company thinks.
Showing Craft Without Saying It
Luxury doesn’t need to explain itself. We deliberately reduced the copy to a minimum, allowing imagery, textures and craftsmanship to do the talking. Conceived as an editorial experience, the website extends the manufacturer’s expertise through both UX and UI. Generous layouts, understated typography and a reading rhythm inspired by art books create an experience where even the animations remain almost invisible. They guide the eye without ever distracting from the products.
Human by Design
Despite its uncompromising standards, Sonderegger remains, above all, a family business. The website avoids the cold conventions of industrial manufacturing to reveal the people behind the craft. Unexpected references, team photography and subtle moments of humour remind visitors that behind every machine are the hands and minds shaping each object. Because behind every piece of packaging lies a story of craftsmanship, precision and passion.
