In Orchestre de Chambre de Genève, there’s “Chambre”. What if everything started there?
Taking the word literally
The word chambre is everywhere in the Orchestre de Chambre de Genève. We say it without really hearing it. Yet chambre isn’t just a chamber orchestra. It’s also a room. An intimate space. A door you open. A place where you’re welcomed, where you dream, where you’re surprised.
So we took the word seriously.
Please Disturb.
The most ordinary object in hospitality became the starting point for an entire season. Because an orchestra shouldn’t ask to be left alone. It should invite interruption. New audiences. New encounters. New emotions. The kind that challenge habits just as much as they challenge music.
One shape. Endless interpretations
The door hanger became much more than an object. It became the visual system for the entire identity. One simple shape, interpreted in countless ways. Like a musical score, it changes with every performance. For family concerts, it becomes a playful character. For open-air performances, colour gradients evoke the transition from the city to nature. Elsewhere, it becomes quieter, more abstract, more graphic. The rule is simple: keep the same shape, never tell the same story twice.
When the orchestra leaves its room
The identity doesn’t stay on posters. It spills into the city. The door hanger becomes a programme slipped inside a book, left on café counters or tram seats. The concert programme borrows the language of room service. The Concert Gazette arrives like the morning newspaper outside a hotel room. Little by little, the season becomes part of everyday life in Geneva. It’s no longer just the audience coming to the concert. The concert comes to them.
Turning a room into an experience
The room extends beyond the identity and into the experience itself. A pyjama concert invites audiences to swap concert etiquette for the comfort of home. Sleep masks encourage people to listen with their eyes closed. A wake-up call reminds concertgoers the day before a performance. Not to catch a flight, but not to miss Brahms. Every activation borrows a familiar hotel ritual and turns it into a new way of experiencing classical music.
A season to live in
In the end, a single word became an entire creative territory. One graphic shape evolved into an instantly recognisable visual cue. An identity that does more than announce a programme; it transforms every concert into an act of hospitality. The Orchestre de Chambre de Genève no longer simply performs in a concert hall. It welcomes you into its room.
