Objectivity as target:
To guide the population in case of danger and disaster, clarity and objectivity are essential. The design of the pictograms used by the Federal Office for Civil Protection's ALERTSWISS application was primarily conceived to be immediately understood by everyone, taking into account linguistic, cultural and socio-demographic differences.

Aesthetics at the service of information
Each pictogram provides information on how to behave in an emergency situation. The challenge is to convey complex information in an immediate and universal way through a visual representation. Each element is reduced to its essential minimum, maximizing the transmission of information.
Results
With over 1.2 million downloads, ALERTSWISS contributes to the safety of the Swiss population. Since 2018, the cantons have issued more than 1,500 alerts, during floods, extreme weather, emergency number failures and, of course, during the COVID-19 pandemic.
